Our history

Our history

1966

The cooperative is made up of 50 members, with the purpose of counteracting improper merchants who paid ridiculous prices.

1967

Creation of a commercial office in the capital of Peru. 

1987

A premises is acquired for administrative office facilities in the city of La Merced (Central Jungle of Peru).

1990

The invasion of terrorism begins. Executives are murdered, machines burned, partners abandon their farms to go out to the cities (60 thousand murdered in Peru).

1996

Strengthening of strategic alliances. The Belgian NGO SOS FAIM joins. Agreement with ADEX; PICHIS PALCAZU Project; Agreement with BAMEX.

1998

Organizational and social development, with the creation of a technical department, partners diversify with raising small animals.

1998

Pioneers in fair trade certification, Organic, Naturland, Starbuck. Due to the growth of the organization, INTEGRAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEES are created.

1999

The PLUS MAX HEVELAAR Fair Trade award is obtained, which is invested in communal, social development, health and education.

2000

Growth forces us to make some strategic changes.

2001

Expansion and sustained growth.

2003

The members CREATE the LA FLORIDA SAVINGS AND CREDIT COOPERATIVE with the purpose of providing financial assistance to the members and LA FLORIDA.

2004

FOGAL is founded together with SOS-Faim of Belgium, Promotion and Employment Center for the Urban Informal Sector of Ecuador,

2012

Unclear policies of the treasury towards cooperatives damage commercial operations.

The low level of understanding and strategic support on the part of the government with clear policies from the treasury (SUNAT) with blocked bank accounts harm commercial activities.

2013

Coffee production falls due to La Roya (rust fungus) up to 70% of production.

2017

In the middle of the year, a new adventure begins, with a restructuring and digitalization process to strengthen the relationship between clients and producers, generating greater value.

Created 52 years ago, Florida is a non -profit organization for small coffee producers with 821 partners.
